Jocuri de aventură
Un joc de aventură este un joc video în care jucătorii îşi asumă rolul de protagonişti într-o poveste interactivă condusă prin explorarea şi rezolvarea de puzzle în loc de confruntări fizice precum lupta.[1] Termenul îşi are originea în jocul din anii 1970 Adventure[2][3] şi este legat de stilul de joc din acel joc, mai degrabă decât nararea unei poveşti.[1]
Focalizarea jocurilor de aventură pe poveşti permite inspirarea din alte media precum literatura sau filmul. Jocurile de aventură acoperă multe varietăţi de genuri literare precum literatura fantastică, ştiinţifico-fantastică, mister, horror, şi comedie. Aproape toate jocurile de aventură sunt create penru un singur jucător, bazându-se pe poveste şi caracter. Întrucât aceste jocuri necesită caractere şi planuri profunde, dezvoltarea caracterului tinde să urmărească ascensiunea personală şi emoţională, mai degrabă decât dezvoltarea jocului în sine.[1]
Popularitatea jocurilor de aventură a fost maximă în finalul anilor 1980 şi mijlocul anilor 1990, când mulţi considerau acest gen ca fiind cel mai avansat din punct de vedere tehnic, şi acum fiind conmsiderat uneori ca un gen de nişă.[4]
